For the Birthday Week

Another fun project. I bought (less than $2) a 2x2 board from Home Depot and cut it into square with my Miter Saw. Then I bought a cute little (about 6” x 6”) calendar from Michaels for $1. Cut the calendar to fit the blocks and decoupaged them on. THEN I went over them all with a sanding brick and sanded all the edges and corners. And finally went over the top of them with decoupage again to seal it all. I sanded them after so I could sand down the pics and make them flush with the wood.. I didn’t want the pics to hang out over the blocks. SO this is a 6 sided puzzle. Different pic on each side. My 4 year old can do it..but needs a little help at times. With 54 puzzle pieces..and only 9 needed at a time.. it can be a little hard for young ones! I am going to try this with pictures of the family soon!

Some calendars from Michaels. I have also gotten them from Target dollar bins in years past.. but don’t pay more than a dollar! You can actually get 2 full puzzles out of one book, since you only need 6 pictures and calendars have 12! Great Christmas gifts too!!

“HOME”

Wow, I’ve got a lot to learn about this new computer, and my updated Live Writer. Anyway, I’m slowly figuring it out! So, while I was away visiting family, we got together and did some wood crafting. I gave some of these “HOME” projects away for Christmas last year, but by the time I got around to cutting them out, it was too cold to cut the whole years worth, so they are getting them slowly throughout the year!

I had originally done an egg for April, but like my chick better. I am planning to decoupage some paper to the back though, to turn it into an egg as well! And I think I’ll decoupage the next star I paint as well w/some cute 4th of July scrapbook paper! I have a couple other ideas as well, for June maybe a beehive would be better and for March a pot of gold.. I’ll post them when I get them made!

I guess my daughter thought she’d help me figure out what else I needed! I found Crackers!

Crafternoon

We had another “Crafternoon” this past Saturday! Lots of fun! :) We worked on the “HOME” project again. Next month will be something different, but I’m not sure what yet, so if you have any ideas, please let me know! Anyone is welcome to come. If you don’t want to work on the project of the month you can bring your own. It’s nice to have a few hours for Crafts, and Friends and GIRL time! If you do want to know details about the group, leave a comment and let me know so I can add you to the list!

Crafternoon

My friend and I started a monthly “Crafternoon” group..except we didn’t meet this month due to Super Saturday, and we won’t meet next month w/Christmas and our husbands in finals and ..just busy busy busy-ness.. anyway..In October though, we did these “HOME” projects that have turned out way cute! We only did the HME letters and then 3 months worth.. a Ghost for Halloween, Pumpkin for Thanksgiving and an ornament for Christmas. We’ll get together again early January to work on some more for the next few months! Get ready ladies and let me know if you want to come! There is a small fee, and I do need to know before hand so we know how many to cut out as well :D

Finally!!

So, I honestly think I am the world's BIGGEST procrastinator. But, I finally got some curtains made. I've had the fabric for the shower curtain for oh..6-8 months. and the fabric for a bedroom curtain for ..oh, about 2 1/2 years..yes.. that's right..years! I found the bedroom curtain fabric, I think at Wal-Mart on sale, and it matches our bedding, so I grabbed it, thinking I would have it done long before now. So, I am glad to have them done!! I like them both a lot!

Some old projects

I haven't had a lot of time these past couple weeks...because I can't let myself craft when I have cleaning and other things that are slightly more important! =)
So, here are a few old projects for ideas: Here is something I made about 6 years ago, it has gotten a little bit squashed in the boxes through the years, but I still like it and hang it each year!Just after we moved into our current place of residence, I found some fabric for $1/yard and grabbed about 15 yards. While my mom was visiting she helped me make these:

We love this one, because our Dining and Living room are all one big room, this divides it for us and gives us a little more privacy. It's nice to pull shut and not have to look at the mess in the kitchen while we are trying to watch a movie or something.. also prevents glare on the T.V.! We like it.

Here are a couple curtains to tie the rooms together.

And some pillows too! I use pineapple decorations in my kitchen, but my couches are a dark blue, so this fabric was perfect to tie the colors together!

I put together these frames shortly after we got married. You've probably seen "The Living Christ" one before, but I also did it to "The Family: A Proclamation to the World" and used our family pictures. I update this one every so often with new family pics. (sorry about the angles of the pics..it makes them a little harder to see, but it was that or have a big glare from the lights.)

Bath Mat

I've been meaning to make this for a while. Its' a bath mat made with 2 towels and a piece of batting in between. I'm glad this is finally completed so I don't have to use our good towels anymore.

The Shower curtain is my next project. I'm going to stencil it with some paints to dress it up a little. It is so boring, especially next to our walls.
