Munchkin Monday ~3

I made this weather chart a couple weeks ago. I used Pelon for the fabric, then I just used colored, fine tip sharpies to draw with. A button in the middle holds the arrow on so they can rotate!

We had a few BIG snowstorms. When it finally stopped snowing, we played in it!

Building snow castles, and Snow heads!

Then we enjoyed some Hot Chocolate to warm up!

Fence Post Snow Men

So this one is actually of my own creation! My mom has a scarecrow and a witch that are adorable, so I wanted to make something for winter. Easy Peasy…
I bought a fence post from Home Depot..not the normal ones that are like, 4x4, but the ones outside that are not exactly square, and they are a bit more rough. They are only about $4 instead of $8 like the 4x4’s.

I had them cut it for me (so I could fit it in my little car). I think I had them cut it to 1 @ 4 foot and 2 @ 3 foot. When I got home I sanded the boards down with my palm sander and painted them..white!

I had some felt on hand, just enough black actually. I put a piece of square over the top,

Then wrapped another piece around for the top of the hat.

For the brim, I ended up just folding a piece and rolling it basically. Using hot glue I glued it all down. I did do the two brims slightly different though!



I had another piece of scrap wood on hand that I painted and used as my base, so they won’t fall over. I just tipped them upside down and put a few screws in the bottom of each (the short one first). Long screws so they will be sturdy enough to hold up the weight.

I had the buttons and googly eyes on hand as well. So out of pocket this project really only cost me the $4, well $2 if you count a bottle of paint. I do want to cut some wooden noses out, probably later this week when it warms up outside and paint them, so as of now, the noses are temporary, and I do have some fleece I want to use for the scarves instead, but it’s hiding in my kids room, and they are sleeping! Other than that, I love the way they look on my front porch!

Painting the Snow

I’m not sure where I saw this idea.. but I just got a couple spray bottles from the Dollar Tree and put some water and food coloring in them. He had a blast painting the snow!

Monthly Blocks

 

“Cold” is written on one side and “Love” on the other, like the ones I did a couple months ago HERE. Just 2”x4”s cut to size (4”, 5” and 6”), painted and I used my cricut for the vinyl, with Cricut Design Studio to adjust the letters a little so they would fit right. I painted them to match the “Subway Art” -->

I think these would look cute displayed next to these printables from “Not Just a Housewife”.

 

 

Scarfs and Hats

If you haven't seen these looms you ought to try them out. They are so fun to use to make scarfs, and blankets, and they have round ones that make hats and sweaters. My sister was making a BEAUTIFUL scarf over the holidays and I love it so much I had to make one. I got my loom set from Michael's with a 50% off coupon which made the set of 4 looms only $10 rather than the $20.. regular price at Michael's and Wal-Mart. I love coupons, but anyway..here is the scarf I am almost done making! I can't wait to have it done!

I made this hat 6 or 8 months ago for my son (he wasn't in the mood to smile at the time) with a round loom. I'll have to make a hat to match my scarf when I'm done with it.
