You’ve been Boo’ed

My family and I started this BOO thing around our neighborhood. We Boo'ed three families and within the two weeks before Halloween this ghost sign was everywhere! So fun! Someone at church mentioned that she was grateful for whomever started it and I kept it to myself but it made me feel good. She said her kids were so excited to get a treat and even more excited to go and ding, dong, ditch other people. Ha ha! i Know I loved it when I was younger as well. We did not put a sign up in our window after starting it but it did come back to us. We had a delicious array of goodies left on our doorstep. Yum! Can't wait to do this next year!

(I drew up a ghost to share for the BOO sign and I added some picture to the poem to make it look more exciting!)

Ghosts and goblins, spooks galore...
Tricky witches at your door.

The spooks are after things to do,
In fact a spook brought this "Boo" to you!

(I had a clear plastic cup that I drew a pumpkin face on; orange tissue paper filled with candy and tied it with a green ribbon. Simple treat to share!)

You have been BOOED! Please keep it going by following these directions:

1. Enjoy your treat
2. Place the BOO sign on your front door or visible in a window
3. Within 2 days, make 2 copies of this note, make 2 treats & 2 BOO signs
4. Secretly deliver to 2 neighbors/friends without a BOO.
5. Keep an eye on nearby front doors to see how far and fast it spreads by Halloween.

Halloween Fun

To get into the Halloween spirit I made some little bats. Super easy and cute! They are hanging in the entryway to our apartment along with some cheesecloth spider webs and orange lights. It’s so fun!

Supplies for bats: desired color of paper/cardstock – I used purple and black; google eyes; double-sided tape or really good glue; fish line or string; something thin and sharp to punch small holes – I used large sewing needle.

Directions: The bats are circles and I cut a chunk out of the top to make it look like ears. Take another circle and cut in half – those halves will be wings. I used decorative scissors that I had to make edges on wings; otherwise you can cut your own design with regular scissors. Use tape/glue to add googel eyes. Tape wings to the back part of bat circle. Poke a hold and feed fishing line through. Tie the fishing line in a knot in the back and cut desired length. Oh, you can make them different sizes and connect smaller ones to larger ones (picture below: tiny black bat is taped to large purple one).

This would be cute as a mobile if you wanted to hang it from a hanger or hoops or some sort but I liked the ‘all over’ idea. I just taped each one around the ceiling.

Halloween Wreath

Halloween Wreath. $1 Store Styrofoam Wreath. I also got my skeleton (pack of 4) and spider (big pack of spiders) there. And I used my leftover fabric and felt from previous crafts. Total $3..w/leftover skeletons and spiders

Wood Crafting

My friend and I have started to do some wood crafts. We have been having a BLAST! My mom bought me a scroll saw when I was about 17 from a garage sale..and it SAT in her garage for …??+ years. ..until a couple months ago when I pulled it out and started using it! Here are some of the crafts we have made..

among others I am still working on! and many more I want to do.

We are starting a little monthly Crafternoon. Once a month we’ll get together on an afternoon ..probably Saturday, and have a craft to work on for the people that come. It will be a blast and a great time to get away and spend a few hours with the girls! Let me know if you are interested so I can put you on our e-mail list. These crafts will not be limited to wood crafts, and let us know if you have any ideas for anything you want to make! These groups are a great way to prepare for birthdays and holidays too!:) We are excited!

Library Bags and Halloween bags!

 

We got to the library every week and I made a couple bags for the kids to tote their books! Well, the baby is still a little small (but did just have her 1st birthday!..but I had to make one while I was on a roll!

Here are some Trick-or-Treat bags that are reversible too!

 

My son picked out the fabric for his.. he is pretty excited about it and already asking to go trick-or-treating! He said he wanted to be Woody, from Toy Story, but now that I found him some boots, he’s changed his mind and wants to be Buzz… ah, the mind of a 3 year old! :)

Halloween Costumes

Here is how our Halloween Costumes turned out for the kiddos! You can't see the babies as well, but she was 'eva' from Wall-e. I found a white zip-up nighty that we had and sewed a green leaf on the chest of it. then the hoodie and face w/blue eyes..it went up and down as I needed to see her. My son was, of course, wall-e. A painted box and a pair of goggles and robot hands I got from the dollar store. He LOVED it! Has worn it every day since! They were great!

Trick-or-Treat!

Actually I made this last year. Sorry I didn't post it sooner, maybe you can use this idea next year! You have all seen them in the stores. Well, I don't remember where I got this idea or if I came up with it on my own, but I actually put my own hand inside the glove and when the kids reach in I grab their hands. I hide it for the smaller ones so I won't scare them too bad, but the older ones have really gotten a kick out of it. It's been a big hit for the last year two years!
I got the bowl from (where else but) Wal-Mart for 2 or 3$ and cut the bottom out of it and put a rubber cleaning glove up the bottom of it. I had to put some padding around the sharp plastic edge before I put the glove it, but then I just taped it all down (if you make this use black tape! I didn't and then had to spray paint it). I used a white glove because it looked better for Halloween than the yellow rubber cleaning glove would have. Hope you had a good Halloween too!

The Glass Block

Here's my glass block.. you've probably seen it before with this scene, but not w/the candy in it. I'm going to change the scene on it each month, or season or..whenever I decide, so I'm going to be posting on "The Glass Block" often. They are so fun and versatile. A great decoration for any room!
